Capitalism: a love story

Its called Capitalism: a love story, an amusing look at a serious subject that makes you laugh and is thoroughly enjoyable. I caught Michael Moore’s new documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival last week. He was there, along with his family and 88 year old father who accompanied him from Flint, Michigan to Toronto for the event.

Although much of the movie deals with Wall Street and the financial crisis, Moore decided to base production in his home town of Flint, Michigan, to help boost the ailing economy.

Instead of a specific niche, the movie covers wide ranging themes from:

-People getting evicted from their houses with no place to live but in their car, all across rural America

-Employees starting there own co-op businesses where they own the business and share in the profit

- A Door manufacturing company sit-in in Chicago, gaining national coverage for getting laid off and left with unpaid wages by, with Bank of America finally agreeing to settle due to large national, negative publicity

- A message specifically for Obama. “We know and we are watching you”.

- To his attempts to back up the truck and attempt to make citizens arrests of the CEO’s of major banking institutions.

- The unheeded FBI warning in 2004 of mass housing epidemic, because all agents in that area are pulled away to battle domestic terror

- Finally, the rise of the people through live demonstrations across the country, to not put up with it anymore, to drive change at the very grass route levels and bring a sweeping change in politics the world had never seen.

These are but a few of the many humorous (if not all true, for my republican friends) moments, you are sure to be entertained. Please share your thoughts after you have seen it.
